Frequently Asked Questions

How quickly can a mediation be organised?

Usually my mediations are booked for the month ahead. But if everyone is available, short notice can be arranged, including the week you book. I need 48 hours notice.

Do I need a solicitor?

No, you can represent yourself. Sometimes solicitors attend, and sometimes there is no solicitor involved. However, I cannot give you legal advice during the mediation and most people choose to seek specialist legal advice about the dispute before mediation.  Sometimes, the participants agree not to have legal representation on the day, but to arrange that their legal representatives will be available by phone or email if required during the mediation, especially if a settlement agreement is needed by the participants.

What does mediation cost?

My fees are set out on this page.

What is your availability for a mediation?

Click here to see my availability calendar. I update my calendar each evening.

Where can I find out more about mediation process?

The mediation process Is explained on this page.

How do I get the other side to mediate?

You can’t. It is a voluntary process that both participants must attend willingly. But you can try to persuade the other side that it will save time, save costs, remove risk and get a result that ends the dispute on terms you can both live with. I can also reach out to the other side to make the suggestion to mediate if preferred.

Your mediations online are cheaper and I’d prefer to participate from home. But I am worried about my tech skills and having to see the other side.

Zoom is very easy to use and has the facility for breakout rooms so you don’t have to meet the other side if you don’t want to. Your computer, a tablet, an iPhone, etc. and a good Internet connection is all you need.
